Goals and Objectives Statement

CPSC’s goals are to provide guidance and expertise to individuals, communities and public sector organizations in the specialized field of applying telecommunications and information technologies to reduce health disparities, to improve health services to underserved and disenfranchised individuals and communities and to improve the collection and sharing of scientific, technical and community knowledge to reduce human vulnerability to natural hazards.

CPSC’s objectives include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  1. Improving the quality and access to health information that meets particular needs of minority, underserved and disenfranchised individuals and communities
  2. Improving the collection and sharing of scientific and technical knowledge to reduce human vulnerability to natural hazards
  3. Improving access to information technology and connectivity to the Internet by underserved individuals and communities 
  4. Improving the quality, quantity and access to linguistically & culturally appropriate health materials by health professionals and consumers
  5. Improving the availability and management of and access to information on health disparities
  6. Developing and elaborating new methods for the collection, management and electronic interchange of information on health disparities
  7. Developing programs and strategies to strengthen the capacity of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions and Tribal Colleges and Universities to use health information to reduce disparities and improve the health of their communities
